Pub History

Liberty Bell.jpg

THE BEGINNING

In 2013 the micropub the Liberty Belle was established by Martin McKeever. The pub was set up as a hobby for Martin, however the unique idea soon garnered the attention of many locals. The pub gained notoriety and soon became the go to for real ales in Ely.

A NEW NAME

In 2015 Martin sold the pub to Andy/Shep and Jo Pearson. The couple changed the name to the Drayman’s Son in memory of Andy’s father who worked as a Drayman for the now closed Forehill Brewery. Under their management the pub went from niche little ale house to the go to for ales and cider in Ely. Due to their hard work the pub won countless CAMRA awards.

THE MICE TAKEOVER

The owners of the Three Blind Mice Brewery (From left to right - Dan, Stu & Alex/Braggy) took control of the pub in March 2018. Four years prior they began the brewery with little to no knowledge of the brewing process, inspiring the name Three Blind Mice. They’ve continued to build on what Jo and Shep had created by increasing the range of beers and giving the pub a much needed refurbishment.
